The end of Summer is one of the most beautiful, yet challenging times of the year. The cicadas are deafeningly loud in the trees as I walk down the road in the morning. The sun is not quite so hot most days, and the first hints of golden Autumn are appearing. As a society, we prepare for back-to-school, and many recent grads start their first jobs. It is a slow ending and an abrupt beginning all at once.
This is a season I have found to ground myself down after allowing my spirit to rise and wander in the joyous rush that is Summertime. A season to recall goals and set the groundwork for the rest of the year. A season to re-establish rituals and re-connect with important people.
I sat down and wrote out my morning and evening rituals so that I can be reminded to slow down and live with intention as I rise and rest every day.
I also re-centered on my intentions:
- dance
- play my clarinet and guitar
- take time to myself
- eat mindfully
- spend time writing
- pursue peace of mind
As the summer wraps up, and we prepare for Autumn, I might challenge you to ask yourself whether you are aligned with your values and intentions, and maybe what you can start now to bring yourself closer to that place.
Love Always,
Rachel
